San Luis Obispo is tucked in the foothills in rich California farmland
and gently rolling hills shadowed by ancient volcanic peaks. The city of
45,000 is the county seat, and is home to California Polytechnic State
University, historic Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, a beautiful and
vibrant tree-lined downtown, a lively meeting place complete with
outdoor cafes, movie theaters, and coffee houses, and the world famous Thursday Night
Farmers' Market street fair.
Mission Plaza is a beautifully landscaped plaza built around
the Mission which was once the center of the town, and to this day, continues
to be a focal point for the community. San Luis Creek adds further ambiance to the site as it gently
meanders through the Plaza, providing hours of entertainment for young
children on a hot summer day or a quiet, solitary place for adult
reflection. And, each Sunday, the Mission still welcomes parishioners
who worship at the Catholic services.
